Bike marathon to raise funds for local hospice

-

STAFF from Southport boiler makers Instanta are joining forces with their sister firm in a charity cycle challenge dubbed Hydrate & Donate.

Setting off from Instanta’s Canning Road factory, the team will travel all the way across the country to Zip’s head office in Dereham, Norfolk and finish on September 14 at its London office in Farringdon.

With a host of hydration-themed fundraising activity planned, the challenge began last Friday (August 25) with a charity cake sale and will culminate on September 11 when the cycling team will embark on a four-day, 350-mile charity bike ride.

Over four weeks, Hydrate & Donate will see various other fundraising events take place across the three offices, including bake sale competitions, dress down days and raffle draws, with prizes including two Zip HydroTap Classics.

During the cycle, a Wattbike with a virtual circuit and wind machine will also be set up in Zip’s Dereham base so those in the office can compete alongside the road team .

With the combined efforts across the three offices, Zip and Instanta hope to reach their target of £5,000, equally split between the offices’ three chosen charities.

At Instanta, the team have nominated Queenscourt Hospice, which provides specialist end of life care to patients from Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

ZIP Water, who make drinking water appliances, have opted for Cancer Research UK, which funds clinical trials to bring new cancer treatments to patients as quickly and safely as possible, as well as the Royal British Legion., which provides lifelong support for services reservists, veterans, and their families.

Instanta is a leading commercial water boiler provider.

Zip MD Russell Owens said: “We’re really looking forward to the Hydrate & Donate challenge, and with the Zip and Instanta teams’ combined efforts, we’re hopeful we’ll reach our £5,000 target for what are three fantastic charities.”

To donate towards the teams’ efforts, Instanta’s Virgin Money Giving page is open at: http://uk.virginmoney giving.com/ team/CoastToCoastCharityCycleRide2017.
