ASOUTHPORT man said that he will sell his house after having his luxury car stolen in a second break-in in just 18 months.

Thieves broke in to Steven Lannister’s house in the early hours of Monday (September 11) while he and partner Sam were sleeping upstairs.

Despite there being a laptop and other valuables lying in plain sight, the intruders only took one thing – the keys to his £50,000 Audi RS6.

Mr Lannister, who moved to the town 10 years ago, has only lived in the property for 18 months but said he will sell the house after being burgled twice in that time. In the first incident, the thieves only left with cash.

This time, the intruders attempted to smash through windows to the house, in Avondale Road North, before eventually breaking the lock on the back door to gain entry.

HeH believesb li the hb burglary was targeted, and carried out by professionals.

Mr Lannister said: “You should see the state of the door, they’ve brought specialist tools to do this. My joiner mate came round and had a look and said they’ve got some serious kit to do that damage.

“Sometimes I park my car in different places because it’s a busy road but obviously they’ve watched to see where it belongs.

“The type of car it is, you have to start it in a certain way and if you don’t know what you’re you doing then you can’t.”

Mr Lannister’s car was recovered in Liverpool by police officers the following day.

The break-in echoes a series of others which have been carried out in the town, with police warning residents to keep out of the sight of potential thieves.
