Forum takes new direction
NEW Directions in Sefton welcomed a good turnout to the first early evening meeting of its consultative body and sounding board.
The New Directions Care Quality Forum was held at the organisation’s North Hub in Mornington Road in Southport, and was attended by around 50 service users, carers and staff members.
The adult social care provider has a team of more than 300 providing a wide range of services to older Sefton residents, and other adults with disabilities or mental health issues.
The forum was established in 2015 to enable clients to comment on services provided by New Directions, and to help shape its future.
Last week’s meeting was the first to be held in the evening, rather than at lunchtime, to give those who work during the day the opportunity to join in.
The forum also provides a much-needed opportunity for carers to talk to each other about their responsibilities in terms of supporting the most vulnerable people in their families and communities.
New Directions’ business development manager, Dave Hughes, said: “This was another successful meeting of the forum which enabled us to share a lot of information about services, and gather many useful views and comments.
“We’re very grateful to all those who took the trouble to attend because the most valuable feedback any organisation can receive is from the people who actually use its services on a day-today basis.”
New Directions was established in Sefton in 2007 as the first local authority social care trading company in the country.
