Ghost walks form part of festival

SANDGROUND­ER Radio is teaming up with Southport BID to host a number of ghost walks as part of Southport Hallowe’en Festival from October 21-31.

Local historian Gladys Armstrong and psychic medium Wendy Hargreaves will be leading the walks, which will also be broadcast on the radio, with the aim of bringing Southport ’ s past back to life

Walk one will take place on Monday, October 23 and take in the sights and history of Lord Street.

The walk will start from 7.30pm at the Manchester Road end.

Walk two will take place on Wednesday, October 25 and taking in Nevill Street, the promenade and around the Marine Lake.

Starting from the Lord Street end of Nevill Street at 7.30pm, the walk will explore the history surroundin­g one of Southport’s most secretive streets.

Finally walk three will take place on Friday, October 27 and will focus entirely on Southport’s historic Wayfarers Arcade.

Exploring the fascinatin­g history of one of the greatest buildings in Southport the walk will begin, as the others, at around 7.30pm.

Andy Hilbert, managing director of Sandground­er Radio, said: “Southport has a rich history, one which I can’t wait to explore. Gladys with her extensive knowledge in the town as well as Wendy’s mediumship make for three nights of excitement and mystery.”

Hugh Evans of South- port BID said: “We are excited to be working with Sandground­er Radio on these ghost walks.

“They have proved extremely popular in the past and we had great feedback.

“Andy and the team have some brilliant ideas to make them even better than ever before!”

The Ghost Walks all form part of a packed programme of events for this year’s Southport Halloween Festival, put on by Southport BID.
