Chaser Paul gets it together for festival
THE Chase’s Paul Sinha will be bringing his show Shout Out To My Ex to this year’s Southport Comedy Festival tomorrow night.
The event has been extended to 18 days making it the town’s biggest comedy festival to date.
Paul will be joined by such names as Gary Delaney, Jason Manford and Tom Stade over the course of the festival.
Paul said: “I can’t wait. I have done three shows there beforehand and they all went very well.
“The crowd are exuberant every time and are always incredibly lively.
“There’s also never a shortage of The Chase fans either! It’s a pleasure to come back.”
Shout Out To My Ex is all about the time one of his past relationships ended.
He said: “It’s about what happened when I got dumped suddenly over a surprising reason a couple of years ago.
“I want the audience to know that it’s not a sad show, but is more about how I pieced everything back together again.”
Paul has been a professional comedian for 15 years and throughout this time has been a junior doctor and a resident quizzer on the ITV show The Chase.
He said: “There is a whole quiz world out there that not many people know about.
“I play tournaments and matches and would go up against the other chasers.
“When they wanted a fourth challenger I was recommended. I went through the audition process but I think my comedy helped me because they knew that I wouldn’t freeze when filming.”
He’s an inveterate quizzer: “I learn a lot from the quizzes and take away information from them.
“A lot of the time on The Chase though I have my fingers crossed just hoping something I know comes up.
“I’d say it’s about 70% hard work and 30% luck because there are days when you can just get a stinker and nothing you know comes up.”
Paul ran his show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is taking it on tour throughout the rest of the year.
He said: “I’m excited to take the show around the country. I love touring and it will be nice to be on stage for a longer period of time.”
