What a lot of bottles in Bottle Room!

A POPULAR drinking spot on Lord Street, in Southport, has had a revamp under its new ownership.

The Bottle Room, formerly known as The Inn Beer Shop, has had thousands of pounds spent on it.

New owner Steven Lannagan, originally from Edinburgh, who has lived in Southport for the past 10 years, purchased The Inn Beer Shop in January and set about fixing up the place.

He said: “I just saw an opportunity. It had such a good following. It still does.”

When the building first opened as a craft ale shop, it was one of the first in the region. Since then, numerous craft ale establishments have opened in the area.

Although many locals found the previous decor of the place was part of its charm, Steven says the building was in a state of bad disrepair.

Referring to the name change, he said: “A lot of people were confused about it being called a shop.

“I also wanted to establish a brand for the place and attract new people in.”

Since the new look, the venue has been attracting many more younger people and couples.

Steven believes part of this is because it’s no longer all about the beer. They now have a wine list and offer sharing boards of food. A cocktail menu is in the pipeline, too.

The bar still has a massive selection of beers, with over 3,000 bottles to choose from.

Customers are still invited to pick a bottle from the shelf to drink as they wish.

The new interior features a cosy sitting area and live music will be performed through the week.
