Things looking up for the town

-

THERE has been a lot to say about Southport over the past few years, and residents have claimed that there is not enough investment in the town and there are too many empty units.

Fortunately, this year we have seen various types of new businesses opening in our town – and the units are being filled, slowly but surely.

The most recent announcement was with regards to the new plans for the former Sandgrounder pub in Lord Street. We reveal this week that the building will be transformed into two venues.

The landmark pub will now become a Potting Shed bar and gardens on the ground floor, and FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar on the upper level and rooftop terrace.

That is definitely something for Sandgrounders to look forward to – although an opening date hasn’t yet been confirmed.

Along with the transformation of the pub, it has also been announced that Bistrot Pierre will officially open next month, on November 17.

But these are just the latest investments of many in the town centre. Within the past few years, we have also welcomed Khepri, The Bold Hotel, Peaky Blinders and Punch Tarmey’s – which are now collectively known as The Northern Quarter on Lord Street.

As a result of these investments, and the celebrity appearances at Khepri Restaurant & Bar, we have seen a lot more people coming to the town.

Speaking of celebrity appearances, Love Island’s Kem Cetinay will also appear at Khepri this Saturday (October 21).

Things are looking up for Southport.
