No festive opening for new Hickory’s
HICKORY’S Smokehouse in Southport will no longer be opening in time for Christmas.
The opening date for the southern American style restaurant has been delayed until some time in the new year, due to “a couple of unforeseen building delays”.
Work began earlier this year to transform the building, on Folkestone Road in Southport, that was formerly the Pageant pub.
A spokesperson for the restaurant chain confirmed that the finished building will offer an array of features including a children’s cinema room and dedicated play area, covered veranda and enhanced outdoor seating options - along with an open firepit and large bar area.
The Southport restaurant will be the seventh Hickory’s Smokehouse, joining popular sites in Chester, Wirral, North Wales and the Midlands.
It was originally thought that the new venue would open its doors before Christmas, but that is no longer going to be possible.
In a Facebook post, Hickory’s Smokehouse said: “Due to a couple of unforeseen building delays your new Hickory’s will now be opening some time towards the end of January 2018.
“We are working hard to create something really special for all of our neighbours in Kew, and bring a real taste of the Deep South to Southport.”
