Stark tale of addict’s agony

-

WEST End hit People, Places & Things comes to the Liverpool Playhouse for five nights only.

The Playhouse will host one of the most critically acclaimed productions of 2016 for seven performances this November, as Headlong’s People, Places & Things comes to Liverpool as part of a UK tour.

The critically-acclaimed production enjoyed a sold-out run at the National Theatre and the West End before embarking on a national tour.

A production on Broadway recently premiered at St Ann’s Warehouse, in Brooklyn.

Written by the celebrated playwright Duncan Macmillan, who also created the stage adaptation of 1984 that visited the Playhouse in 2013, the play was nominated for Best New Play at the 2016 Olivier Awards.

The production features the innovative stage design of award-winning designer Bunny Christie, who also designed The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and has toured extensively since 2012.

An intoxicating play, People, Places & Things became the mustsee show last year for its vivid portrayal of one woman’s entanglement in addiction, treatment and selfawareness.

Irish-born Lisa Dwyer Hogg plays Emma, an actress whose life has spun recklessly out of control because of her addictions to drink and drugs.

Emma was having the time of her life. Now she’s in rehab. Her first step is to admit that she has a problem.

But the problem isn’t with Emma, it’s with everything else. She needs to tell the truth. But she’s smart enough to know that there’s no such thing.

When intoxication feels like the only way to survive the modern world, how can she ever sober up?

People, Places & Things visits the Playhouse from Tuesday, November 14 to Saturday, November 18.

Tickets are available at www.everymanplayhouse.com/whats-on/people-places-things or by calling the Box Office on 0151 709 4776.
