Dad jailed for vandalising parents’ cars in custody row
AN estranged dad who caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to his parents’ cars has been jailed for 12 months.
A court heard Mark David Winter has been jailed twice for similar offences.
His parents, David and Susan, have custody of his four-year-old son and Winter again became upset over access to his child and turned up at their home in Ainsdale.
Iain Criddle, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that while Winter had access to his son the arrangements had caused him difficulties.
On October 20 this year, after drinking, he turned up at their home at about 8.20pm and banged on the window and was seen by his father to damage their cars and a door. The cost of repairs was estimated at £10,000.
The police were called and 40-year-old Winter said: “This is what happens when you can’t see your son.”
Winter, of Bedford Road, Bootle, has committed 66 previous offences including assaulting his dad in June 2015 and breaching restraining orders. He pleaded guilty to three offences of criminal damage and breaching the restraining order.
Lionel Greig, defending, said: “He deeply regrets his behaviour.”
Judge Andrew Menary, QC, said: “I recognise your frustration and upset at the difficulties you have been experiencing in having contact with your son but it seems to me your parents have been acting in his best interests and protecting him, sometimes from his own father.”
