AMISSING dog has finally been reunited with her owner after being separated for almost two years.

The reunion came after a 10-year-old Shih Tzu, named Milly, was signed over to Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre, who have a charity shop located on Shakespeare Street, in Southport.

Milly was given to the rescue centre by a lady who had looked after her for a year and a half after rescuing her from people mistreating her in the street. When she was found, the Shih Tzu was already microchipped and neutered.

Given that Milly was clearly looked after before she was rescued, the staff at Freshfields began to wonder if her previous owner was still searching for her.

The dedicated kennels staff began searching through social media, and looked at lots of missing-dog websites before they found that a similar dog went missing from the same area in January 2016.

The staff then managed to track down Milly’s original owner, Jenna Ingman, who had owned her since she was a tiny puppy.

Jenna had never stopped looking for her and, with confirmation of the microchip details, Millie and Jenna were finally reunited.

Speaking of the rescue centre, Jenna said: “The staff at Freshfields were amazing.

“They’ve made our family complete again, and we can’t thank them enough.”

A spokesperson for Fresh- fields Animal Rescue Centre added: “This story goes to show just how important it is to contact your dog’s microchip company and report them as missing.

“Should anyone else find the dog, or try to change the microchip details, the original owners will then be informed. Make sure your chip details are up to date too. It needs to be on your list of ‘things to do’ if you move house.

“We are all thrilled that Milly’s story has a happy ending, thanks to our dedicated team of kennel staff at Freshfields.’’
