Time to get your skates on for festive family fun

A CHRISTMAS ice rink will return to Southport town centre tomorrow – and it will be bigger than ever before.

Work is now complete on the festive attaction, located in Town Hall Gardens, on Lord Street.

Skating will be available for seven days a week, throughout December and over the festive period to cater for everybody.

The rink, which is organised by Southport BID, will officially open tomorrow, December 1, and will be remain open until December 31.

Opening times are from noon until 7pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 8pm on Saturday and Sunday during December.

However, the attraction will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Hugh Evans, of Southport BID, said: “We are excited for the rink to open this year, it should look pretty spectacula­r and be a real feature.

“We know it was missed last year – we listened to that feedback and we went away and worked out how to make it even better.

“The lights switch-on event was hugely well attended, and we really want to ensure this is a great Christmas in Southport.”

Adult tickets are available for £7.50, children aged 5-16 cost £4.50 and under fives go free.

You may have to wait for your turn on the ice if you haven’t booked your session in advance, especially during peak times.
