Laugh Out Loud... at The Atkinson

-

LAUGH Out Loud Comedy Club returns to The Atkinson, Southport on Saturday, December 2, with comedians Silky, Pierre Hollins, Jonny Pelham and Chris Washington.

Liverpudlian- in- exile Silky has always been hilarious.

At only his fourth-ever gig, he was on BBC1 in the final of the 1995 BBC New Comedy Awards alongside Southport’s own Lee Mack (Would I Lie To You, Not Going Out) and Julian Barratt (Mighty Boosh).

Silky has performed internationally, including gigs in China, the Philippines, the Gulf, Singapore, the US, the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and all over Europe, including at the Glastonbury Festival.

He also headlined the inaugural Frampton Mansell comedy festival, the world’s smallest, and does warm-up work for BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Pierre Hollins, the guitar-posturing, electric tennis racket-playing chameleon of comedy, has spent years crafting his laugh- out loud sets and has been an audience favourite on the comedy circuit for many years.

He has a stage presence and delivery style that is the envy of many of his peers and he still appears as fresh today as the day he started.

He has headlined at clubs throughout the UK, Europe, The Middle East and Asia, has numerous TV writing experiences such as for Bodger and Badger (CBBC) and Waking Up With Winona (Disney Channel) and appeared alongside many a comedy legend in his time, such as Alexei Sayle, Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.

Often cited as an unsung hero of mirth, be prepared for this comedy veteran to hit you with some effortlessly flippant rock and roll fun.

Jonny Pelham began comedy at university and while he was there he achieved runner-up in both the coveted So You Think You’re Funny competition and The Chortle Student Comedy Awards.

Since graduating, Jonny has continued to impress and was a finalist and judges choice in the BBC Radio New Comedy Awards, as well as being nominated for Chortle Best Newcomer in 2014.

He was also the Judges’ Choice in the BBC Radio New Comedy Awards.

In 2016, Jonny made the exciting step on to the small screen on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central for Comedy Central followed by a support slot on Live At The BBC this year.

With two critically -acclaimed solo shows under his belt, Before and After (2015) and Fool’s Paradise (2016), Jonny has a number of up-coming television projects in the pipeline, including a presenting debut and bookings to write across a number of television projects.

Plus your MC for the night is the lovable Chris Washington.

With a cheeky Northern charm and hilarious tales it’s clear to see why Chris is flying up the comedy ladder.

Chris took the Edinburgh Fringe 2017 by storm with his show Dream Big: Within Reason and was nominated for Best Newcomer and received fantastic reviews.

Organisers say: “All line-ups are subject to change, but don’t worry, we’ll only replace them with someone just as funny!”

Doors at The Atkinson open at 7.30pm with an 8pm start.

Tickets: £15 in advance / £18 on the door / £40 Season Ticket
