Firm unites with trust in its support for town food bank

-

SOUTHPORT based Unite Professionals Ltd has delivered its latest batch of items to the town’s food bank.

The firm provides specialist case managers for people who have suffered brain injuries, and managing director Jo Evans has been supporting the vital service delivered by Southport Foodbank for a number of years.

After asking for a most wanted shopping list of items, Judith Stewart, head of business development, delivered the items to boost the warehouse stocks.

Jo Evans said: “We hope Unite Professionals’ donation will help in a small way, alongside the incredible valuable advice people receive when visiting the six centres across our town.

“Food banks also offer a lot more than food.

“Volunteers provide a listening ear to clients over a warm drink, and signpost people to other charities and agencies who can help resolve the underlying cause of the crisis.”

The Trussell Trust runs a network of more than 420 food banks throughout the UK.

It gave out more than 11,000 tons of food in 2016-17 to people in crisis, 90% of which was donated by the public.

This is the ninth year in which Trussell Trust figures have increased.

Anyone who can support their work, is urged to get in touch with John and his team at Southport Foodbank on 07826 685498.
