ASOUTHPORT business-owner is set to appear on a BBC One programme.

Paul Ennis, a chartered building surveyor from Birkdale, was asked to film for a BBC Inside Out programme.

He was asked to provide his expert opinion on work carried out by “bogus builders” and how to avoid being caught out by unscrupulous building contractors.

Paul, 51, spent the day with the film crew at two sites in Liverpool giving his opinion of the work that had been carried out.

He said: “It was great to be chosen as the expert for the programme, it is flattering.

“I have appeared on programmes before, and it was a great experience.”

Paul has been a univer- sity lecturer for a course at the Univeristy of Central Lancashire, and an expert in construction in Crown Court.

Now, he is managing director of the Paul Ennis Group, a firm of architects, chartered surveyors and chartered builders, based in Liverpool Road.

Some of the advice he gave in the programme included not using the first builder you find, always getting written quotes before selecting a builder, remembering that the cheapest quote isn’t always the best and always getting a written agreement/contract on the work to be done.

The 30-minute programme is presented by Dianne Oxberry and is to be aired on BBC One later this month.
