Are we entitled to refund?

-

AN interesting thought.

The residents and shopkeepers of Weld Parade, Birkdale have asked Sefton Council about resurfacing the badly potholed road, only to be told the road is un-adopted, and therefore the costs of such action must fall on them. So, here’s the interesting thought. (Does it mean) that any parking ticket ever issued by either Sefton’s wardens, or Merseyside Police/ traffic wardens before them, was done so unlawfully, and mean if you received such a ticket you should have the right to both a full refund, plus costs, plus (if you push it) interest on the money you paid out? NAME IS SO IMPORTANT

DO you remember when you were a child and fell down hurting your knee?

You turned to someone you could trust.

Mum, dad, auntie, uncle or a family friend.

After a kiss and a hug, together with words of comfort, you were back out playing.

Whenever we feel ill we need human contact if only to tell our troubles to.

Machines are fine but they cannot see the tear in your eye or when you flinch from pain.

How we interact with people is the first stage of recovery.

Dr Kate Granger noticed that, when being treated for cancer, nobody introduced themself to her.

Introductions begin the therapeutic relationships between those who are suffering and those willing to help, and build trust.

Her husband told her to stop whingeing and do something.

She started the Hello my Name Is campaign, which soon went viral throught the healthcare sector of the NHS.

Dr Granger died in 2016 but the campaign is continuing with undergraduate nurses.

STOCK CAR REUNION

ON SATURDAY, March 3, 2018, starting at around 8pm, the Veteran’s Stock Car Association is staging the 25th Annual Northern Stock Car Reunion.

This event has long been an established part of the national stock car racing social calendar.

We are always trying to contact as many drivers (past and present), families, friends, mechanics, helpers, supporters and track officials as we can, in order to make each annual reunion even better than the previous one.

All our previous reunions have been very well supported and the event is now advertised from Workington down to Stoke-onTrent and from Blackpool across to South Yorkshire.

However, there must still be many more out there who haven’t yet been to, or heard about, our reunions.

Most of the sport’s top northern stars have attended at some time or other, it’s a chance to renew old acquaintances in the friendliest of atmospheres, watch some of professional cameraman Ray Liddy’s archive film which goes back to the 1970s and generally have a good night out. And it’s free. There’s a quiz with prizes for the winning team and the team scoring least (the winners set the questions for the following year), a free draw for a bottle of whisky, a raffle, a fundraising card and memorabilia displays.

The event, as always, will be held at the Boarshurst Band Club,
