Fire crews battle to extinguish blaze at town property
A PROPERTY in Southport was damaged by a fire – and firefighters spent more than six hours at the scene.
The incident took place at a home on Seabank Road, in Southport, on Thursday, March 15.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were notified of the incident at 8.21am with crews rapidly attending the scene at 8.25am.
Four fire engines and an aerial appliance attended the incident and crews used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.
The fire is believed to have been caused by accidental ignition, and occurred in the roof space of the property.
As a result of the blaze, the roof, living room, kitchen and bathroom of the property were damaged.
Fortunately, however, no one was injured in the incident.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to a fire at a property on Seabank Road in Southport at 8.25am on Thursday, March 15.
“Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 8.21am and crews were alerted at 8.22am. They were on scene at 8.25am.
“The roof was damaged by fire, together with the living room, kitchen and bathroom of a property within the building. “No-one was injured. “Firefighters remained at the incident for around six hours and ten minutes.”
