Piano bar shuts its doors after ‘not getting support’ in quiet town centre
ANOTHER Southport bar has closed after it ‘didn’t get the support’ that owners had hoped for.
The Exclusive Piano and Champagne Bar, on Coronation Walk, in Southport town centre has closed its doors for the last time.
The owners said that the closure was because it was ‘‘not getting the support’’, Southport town centre becoming ‘‘increasingly quiet’’ and the increased overheads of running the business.
The bar was open for a matter of months after officially launching in July 2017.
It was open seven days a week, and specialised in champagne.
It was the brainchild of Neil and Jitka Wilson, of Exclusive Media, whose portfolio includes Exclusive Magazine, The Exclusive Channel online TV, and Exclusive Card.
The couple hoped that the new venue would bring something unique to the town, and expand Southport’s nightlife.
Prior to opening, Neil said: “Southport has had a host of new bars and clubs, and it’s fantastic to see the town’s nightlife being revived, but we want to build on that even further and introduce something brand new and unique to the town.
“The new Northern Quarter is truly great, but we’ve opted to open towards the other end of Lord Street so as to expand the town’s nightlife provision.”
It was a shock, therefore, when the owners took to social media to confirm its permenant closure on Monday, March 19.
They said: “We are very sad to announce that Piano Bar has closed the doors for the final time.
“We tried to bring something a little different and special to Southport and for those of you who experienced some of the amazing nights at the bar, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
“Unfortunately Piano Bar did not get the support that we hoped for and therefore as we reached a break clause in our lease, we decided that despite all the hard work that has been put in by ourselves and our amazing staff, the time was right to say goodbye.”
