A POPULAR bar is set to take over one of Southport’s oldest landmarks.

Remedy, a gin bar located in the former Tourist Information Office on Lord Street, will soon close its doors before relocating to the other side of the Town Gardens.

The business, which opened in July 2015, is planning to move into the building which was previously occupied by Town Gardens Café, which closed its doors on Monday.

Susannah Porter and Sarah Simcock, owners of Remedy which serves specialist coffees, fine malt whiskeys and artisan gins, have said the new premises directly opposite their current building will make their Lord Street offering “bigger and better.”

They said: “This is a bigger, better, purpose-built premises where we will be able to extend our food offering and range of drinks and cocktails.

“We are very excited about this opportunity. There has been a Town Gardens Cafe on this site for nearly 120 years and in the current building for 30 years.

“We want to continue to bring new and unique drinks to South- port in a calm and relaxing environment. None of that will change.”

Whereas food serving times are currently limited at Remedy in Southport town centre, it is hoped that the move will enable customers to dine later.

The owners are will also launch a new menu – with food matched to the specialist drinks on offer.

Remedy it set to close the doors of its current premises on Sunday, April 22, and hopes to reopen at the new site by the end of April at the latest.
