I thought I had been shot at, says pensioner
ADISABLED pensioner feared a bullet had been shot after her conservatory window was smashed by an unknown object.
Linda Forster was home alone when her window was smashed, leaving her worried for the the welfare of herself and her beloved pet cats and dogs.
She owns nine Cornish Rex cats – a rare and endangered species – as well as three poodles and feared they would be hurt or left frightened by the incident.
An officer from Merseyside Police attended the scene, at Cross Street, but was unable to find the cause of the smash.
Linda, 70, has lived in Southport for more than 40 years and says she has never had to call the police before but felt she had no choice after this incident.
Linda said: “I was a bit shocked and I was very upset. I think of the pets mostly as any animal lover would,
“My cats live in the conservatory and have done their whole lives. I’m frightened for them because wouldn’t want them to get hurt.”
It is still not known what kind of projectile caused the smash, but Linda believes an air rifle is the most likely answer.
She now faces a £300 bill and two-week wait to repair the broken glass.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “I can confirm that we received a report of criminal damage at around 1pm on Sunday, April 8. I
“The incident is reported to have happened at 10.30am when an occupant of a residential property on Cross Street, Southport, found a window in her conservatory to have been damaged.
