Seven cars broken into in 11 days

-

CAR owners are being warned after seven incidents of thefts from vehicles in Southport were reported in 11 days.

The thefts took place in Windsor Road, Gladstone Road, St James Street, Montgomery Avenue and Hope Street.

The incidents took taken place between April 1 and April 12.

Merseyside police said that two of the vehicles had possibly been left insecure or were entered by unknown means.

One car’s registration plates were taken and items left in four of the vehicles were stolen.

Police issued advice for car owners in a crime alert.

A spokesperson said: “It is suggested that items should be placed in the boot before, and not when, the car is parked and left unattended.

“In a car park sometimes a thief will watch for a car owner to place items such as laptops, handbags and cameras in the boot and then target the car for the valuable items when the owner has left the vehicle.”

Anyone with information about car thefts should contact @MerPolCC or call 101.
