Bill orchestrates evening that’s musical, tangential and comical

-

JOIN Bill Bailey for a typically surreal evening of comedy, music and fun, when he plays Southport Theatre on April 27-28.

Larks In Transit is a compendium of travellers’ tales and the general shenanigans of 20 years as a travelling comedian.

With musical virtuosity, surreal tangents and trademark intelligence, Bill Bailey tackles politics, philosophy and the pursuit of happiness.

Plus he fashions a symphony from a ringtone, tells the real story of Old McDonald, and reimagines the Stars and Stripes.

Two decades of touring larks from a comic described by the Daily Telegraph as “the brainiest comic of his generation”.

Bill Bailey is a comedian, musician, writer, author, director, presenter and keen stand-up paddleboarder known for his live shows such as Part Troll, Tinselworm, Qualmpeddler and Limboland and his work on the TV programmes Black Books, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and QI.

Never afraid to push boundaries, in 2008 Bill wrote and performed his Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall with Anne Dudley and the BBC Concert Orchestra.

This was broadcast on BBC Two in 2009 and went on to win two International Awards at the Banff International TV Festival.

He is also a keen ornithologist; Bill Bailey’s Birdwatching Bonanza was transmitted in January 2010 on Sky1 while, in 2016, Bill Bailey’s Remarkable Guide To British Birds was published by Quercus Books.

Last year, Bill curated the Cabinet Of Curiosities exhibition at Hull Maritime Museum as part of Hull’s 2017 City of Culture, and walked 100 miles along the Icknield Way and the Ridgeway Path to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

He kicked off 2018 filming a comedy drama In The Long Run created by Idris Elba for Sky.

Tickets for Larks In Transit are priced £28.75 (£31.65 online/phone) and are on sale now.
