PEOPLE all over Southport are preparing to celebrate the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Saturday, with special events being held around town – and we want you to send us your pictures!

Partygoers can expect to see lots of bunting, flags and cake on Britain’s most Royal road – Crosby Road, in Birkdale – with a Royal street party being held for the fifth time.

With hundreds of people expected, the final few tickets are still available, with the party set to begin at 1pm.

Previous street parties there have attracted more than 800 people, as well as an appearance from the BBC’s Hairy Bikers.

Party organiser Jonathan Cunningham, MBE, managing director of Storm Consultancy, said: “Each time the parties get bigger and better.

“We are very passionate about the Royals and if we can celebrate at a community event, while raising money for charity, then why not?”

Tables and bunting are provided, but people are asked to bring their own chairs, food and drinks.

Tickets are £5 per adult; children under 16 go free.

Funds raised will go to Southport Community First Responders, where Jonathan is team leader.

Meanwhile, fitness fanatics at a Southport gym will be busy burning thousands of calories on Royal Wedding day.

CTC Fitness is hosting a bid for members to push, pull and bike their way beyond the loss of 10,000 calories to support military charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Gym-goers will start at 9am and hope to have reached their target by 2pm.

People are welcome to show their support at the unit, in Kensington Industrial Estate, off Kensington Road.

The event is organised by CTC founder Mike Tobin, who said: “We aim to burn 10,000 calories to raise money for Scotty’s Little’s Soldiers.

“This charity does amazing work helping the families of fallen servicemen and servicewomen.”

Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting children and young people who have lost a parent while serving in the British Armed Forces (visit CTC Strength and Fitness on Facebook or scottyslittlesoldiers. co.uk).

St John’s Church, on Liverpool Road, Ainsdale, in Southport, is hosting a Royal Wedding Family Garden Party 11am-3pm.

A spokesman said: “See the wedding on our big screen in Church, with lots of games and activities for all the family around the grounds, including a giant inflatable slide, a treasure hunt, a BBQ and refreshments, plus a licensed bar! Prizes for the best dressed Prince and Princess!

“Following this we have our ‘Messy Church’ which will have a Royal Wedding theme!
