Best club night yet, but room for you!
THERE was plenty of laughter at the Atkinson as the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club returned earlier this month.
Each month, organiser Damion Larkin brings some of the best comedians to the Lord Street venue for a night of great comedy.
This month the line-up was headlined by Mark Nelson, who is a very sought-after comedian and writer, with both the skill and intellect to be able to adapt his material to suit and entertain any club, theatre or corporate audiences.
He also won the Scottish Comedian of the Year Award in 2006.
Also performing was Kae Kurd, a young British-Kurdish stand-up who is passionate about making politics accessible to his peers; Josh Jones, who s a young, friendly, and energetic performer with an engaging personality; and Jamie Hutchinson, a promising act in the UK com- edy circuit who won the XS Manchester Comedian of the Year in 2017.
Organiser Damion said: “This was easily the best crowd we’ve ever had in six years of comedy clubs at The Atkinson.
“As a result, all the comedians were on fire and the audience were so up for a laugh it made our job on stage a real breeze. Only one problem – not enough of them.
“So people of Southport, please get behind this night and bring groups of pals along to the next one – the comics coming up are amazing so you’re guaranteed to Laugh Out Loud!”
The LOL Comedy Club takes place on the first Saturday of each month at the Atkinson, on Lord Street in Southport town centre.
Tickets to the event cost £15 in advance or £18 on the door, and the next event is set to be held on Saturday, June 2.
