We’re all up for bike challenge!

and business communications firm Elite Group.

“We always plan a big summer challenge,” said long-standing club member Gareth McIntegart.

“This year, we agreed we should use it to benefit not only our own community, but a charity which is doing really important work.”

He added: “Our fundraising pages have already attracted a lot of donations, for which we are hugely grateful, but, of course, we don’t want to settle for what we have.

“Both these charities do fantastic work, Woodlands for cancer sufferers of all ages and CLIC for those aged 16-24.

“Any and all donations are welcome and I’m sure the more we raise, the easier it will feel pushing through the 180-mile round trip!”

Kate Leah, head of fundraising at Woodlands Hospice, said: “We are delighted to be one of the charities supported during this challenge.

“Gareth and the Ainsdale Cycling Club have been absolutely fantastic and we are truly grateful for everything they are doing.

“Woodlands Hospice needs to raise £3,500 every day to continue to provide free services to those with life limiting illnesses across North Liverpool, South Sefton and Knowsley.

“Without the support of people like Gareth and the Ainsdale Cycling Club, we simply wouldn’t be able to continue with the work we do.”

Peter Cross, UK commercial manager of sponsors Evergreen Tyres, said: “We are excited to see how this challenge unfolds. Ainsdale Cycling Club has chosen two fantastic charities.

“Woodlands Hospice is very important to and cherished by the community in Liverpool and CLIC Sargent does incredible work to support young people and families affected by cancer.”

A spokesperson for the other main sponsors, Elite Group of Chorley, said: “Elite is very proud to be supporting Gareth and the Ainsdale Cycling Club with their charity bike ride.”
