ASDA supermarke­t on Derby Road in Southport is working with Southport food bank to collect much needed food for their food bank appeal.

The store is now urging people to donate food to the food bank trolley situated by the cafe.

Nationally, ASDA is donating over £20 million to the Trussell Trust and Fairshare to help local communitie­s.

Together they aim to provide an additional 20 million meals a year, give 500,000 people access to fresh food every week and support one million people with guidance and advice to help them get out of food poverty.
