Walk to improve your heart
PEOPLE are being invited to take part in a Healthy Heart Walk in Southport next week.
Oddfellows Ormskirk & Southport District is putting health at the very heart of its social events – to show support of the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) fight against cardiovascular disease.
To help raise greater awareness of the disease, as well as funds for BHF research, the local friendship group and society is hosting a public Healthy Heart Walk on Monday, June 25, starting from Vivesco Café, at Christ Church on Lord Street, in Southport town centre.
The event starts at 10.30am.
Participants are welcome to meet at 10am for a caffeine boost before starting out.
Judith Catton, events organiser, said: “We want to play our part in helping people understand how small lifestyle changes can make a big difference to heart and general health, such as taking 10 minutes’ exercise daily, giving up smoking and eating a balanced diet.
“We couldn’t be prouder to back the brilliant work of the British Heart Foundation and invite anyone in the area who has been affected by cardiovascular disease, or who wants to show their support of the BHF’s work, to come along and join us on the walk or to meet for a cuppa and a chat beforehand.”
