Domino’s plan for branch in village
ATAKEAWAY chain could be set to open a branch in Churchtown. Domino’s wants to open on the vacant site that formerly belonged to Graham Eyes’ butchers in Cambridge Road.
The pizza chain wants to open from 11am until midnight each day, seven days a week, and has submitted a planning application to Sefton Council.
Upon hearing the news, many local residents have taken to social media to share their views on the proposal.
Sinclair Hesketh d’Albuquerque said: “Great news for Churchtown.”
Lindsey Billington said: “Fab, lovely to see our little village booming again.”
Sally Sawyer said: “Marvellous idea, we haven’t got any good pizza places in Churchtown. Should do well.”
According to the planning application, if the proposal is approved, the takeaway would generate a number of employ- ment opportunities, both part time and full time, and employees will be “sourced locally”.
The document also outlines intentions to install extraction and ventilation equipment, together with plans to make alterations to the shopfront.
It says: “The extract and ventilation equipment is proposed to be installed towards the rear of the unit, away from the main pedestrian thoroughfare.
“The shopfront is degraded and dated in appearance, particularly when compared with the refurbished shopfront for the neighbouring Co-operative store.”
A preparation and baking area, and a customer seating area will also be incorporated.
The application concludes: “The proposed development will enable the re-occupation of a vacant unit, bringing employment opportunities to the local area and enhancing the appearance of the frontage.”
