Rosie to be crowned Rose Queen
ROSE Queen Day celebrations are set to take place in Tarleton this weekend. The Rose Queen event, which has ran for over 50 years, will be held on Saturday, June 23, on the field belonging to Tarleton Holy Trinity Primary School, on Church Road.
The annual celebration, which will run from 1pm until 4pm, allows residents to get together and celebrate the crowning of the new Rose Queen and her contribution to charities and the community.
More than 500 people are expected to attend and entry is £1 per adult, whilst children under 18 can enter for free.
All the money raised at the event will be donated to Tarleton Holy Trinity Primary School and Mere Brow Primary School.
A brass band, barbecue, homemade snack stalls, games and entertainment will be amongst the activites at the traditional village celebration.
Rosie Samuels has been elected as the Rose Queen of 2018, and she will spend the year fundraising to support pancreatic cancer.
The 12-year-old said: “I am really delighted to be Rose Queen this year and represent my church. I started Tarleton Holy Trinity Primary School in 2009 and I left in 2016.
“Over the next year, whilst Rose Queen, I hope, with the help of my retinue, to raise as much money as I can for my chosen charity which is “Pancreatic Cancer” for the Liverpool Royal University Hospital.”
