Teenager feared for his life in bike robbery ordeal
ATEENAGER said he feared for his life when he was attacked and threatened with a “hunting knife” and his offroad motorbike was stolen.
The 19-year-old Southport man said he was threatened with a knife and beaten when a group of men confronted him at the Leisure Lakes site in Mere Brow.
He said the group of men stole his KTM enduro off-road motorbike, worth about £4,000.
The robbery is said to have happened at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
The man asked not be named for fear of reprisal.
He said: “I had arranged to meet a couple of friends at the Leisure Lakes site. [One of them] was interested in buying my bike.
“I was showing my bike off to them when a group of around four men appeared from nowhere.
“One of them had a hunting style knife. He told me that ‘I would get it’ and his mates then started punching me in the head.
“I tried to fight back a bit but in the end just had to give up. The knife made me scared for my life.
“They all had Liverpool accents and were really scruffy in appearance. The lad with the knife had dark hair, stubble and crooked teeth.”
The teenager said that one of the men jumped on his bike and rode off on it. The rest of the group made off in a waiting car.
He said: “One of the lads just jumped on the bike and kickstarted it. The rest of them made off in a blue Ford Fiesta which was waiting nearby.”
The Southport man said that he reported the crime to the police, but did not need to go to hospital.
He said: “This area is really popular with families from across Southport. It’s for families and kids. I just hope the police catch up with this group of people as soon as possible.”
Ormskirk and Burscough police have released a photo- graph of the stolen bike on social media. A spokesman said: “The motorbike in this photograph was stolen by means of robbery on 23/6/18, anyone with any information as to its whereabouts please contact police on 101 or email 3893@lancashire.pnn. police.uk and quote crime number SB1803403.”
