ANOTHER week, another 25 points for Southport and Birkdale, who look in no mood to ease up at the top of Division One.

Gary Keedy’s 4/45 ensured Fleetwood Hesketh couldn’t set more than 153, which was never going to be enough as the sun shone on Trafalgar Road.

Bradley Yates struck an unbeaten 83 as the home side won by seven wickets, inside 30 overs.

Sefton Park began their afternoon by toiling for 54 overs as Ainsdale compiled 228/5 – Andrew Barlow’s 80 and Andy Davies’ 50* the highlights.

But the visitors soon found out it was no fun bowling – Sean Vandome struck an unbeaten 126, supported by 50 from Greg Harvey, to see the home side home.

Burscough climbed off the bottom with a hard-fought win at Wavertree.

First, Lee Berrie’s 5/33 restricted the hosts to 186 all out; then captain Jon Stone’s unbeaten 53 rescued them from 117/7 to record a two-wicket win.

Liverpool replace them at the bottom of the pile, after their seven-wicket defeat to Birkenhead Park. Ahmad Safi Abdullah took 5/35 to dismiss the hosts for 123, and Park found the chase easy as ABC.

Second placed Orrell Red Triangle didn’t like to be beside the seaside – Prestatyn’s Peter Cassidy took 6/69 to earn a 33-run win, the home side having earlier racked up 187/9.

Siddesh Dixit (81*) and Aaron Redmond (59*) shared an unbroken stand of 126 to secure an eight-wicket win for Wigan over Newton-leWillows. Earlier, captain Christopher Chambers hit 61 before the hosts’ lower order crumbled to 168 all out.
