SOUTHPORT’S newest two-bar venue has officially unveiled its impressive rooftop terrace. The attraction, made up of Potting Shed Bar and Gardens and Firepit Smokehouse and Sports Bar, opened last month on the site of the former Sandgrounder pub, on Lord Street.

The rooftop terrace remained closed as work was still ongoing – but the Southport Visiter has been given a peek at the feature ahead of its official opening to the public.

The owners, concept bar specialists Ormsborough Ltd, have transformed the upper level of the building into a outdoor grassed terrace with retractable roof and a private function space.

With its own dedicated bar, the roof garden has plenty of room for al fresco drinking in the summer months.

Ormsborough Ltd already owns and operates an additional five Potting Sheds and two Firepits in Yorkshire, and has spent £2.6m creating its first site to house the two bars under one roof in Southport.

Potting Shed Bar & Gardens is located on the ground floor and has a quirky outdoors-to-indoors garden theme.

The Firepit Smokehouse is on the first floor and sports are shown throughout the restaurant – and the main screen is a huge 4 x 2 metre LED wall.

Operations manager Jade Renner claimed the new roof area promises to be a major attraction in all weathers, and fits perfectly with The Potting Shed’s garden theme.

Jade said: “We really love the location of the new bars, right on Lord Street, but when we took on the site we were restricted with outside space. “We were able to have outdoor tables on the pavement, but there was nowhere at ground level to create a beer garden.

“We were obviously keen to give people the option of a beautiful outdoor space, which we have in our other Potting Shed venues, so we went up instead of out!

“The roof area has been transformed so now there’s a terrace, with a retractable roof so it will work in all seasons, and we have a room which is available for private hire – both served by their own upper floor bar. “The Potting Shed and FirePit have already proved hugely popular with Southport customers and w we’re confident they’re going to love the roof terrace because it means they won’t have to miss a minute of the fabulous sunshine!”
