Fun and games on adventure trip
YEAR Two children at St Teresa’s Infant School in Birkdale recently set off for a residential trip to Rock and River in Mawdesley.
They were very excited to return, as they previously had a taster day back in November.
The children challenged themselves by having a go at canoeing, low ropes, the climbing tower, the balance beam, the crate stack, the swamp romp, den building and orienteering.
They even toasted marshmallows around a camp fire in the evening.
The children were accompanied by their class teacher, the headteacher, a teaching assistant and an A level student.
The adults agreed that all of the children had embraced the challenges and had all surprised themselves with what they had achieved.
It was a fantastic experience that built the children’s confidence and team building skills.
The parents were pleased that the trip was free, paid for with funding from the school’s sports premium money.
Eleanor Daniels, the headteacher, commented: “This has been one of the highlights of our year.
“It was wonderful to see the children’s self-belief and resilience growing over the two days.
“We have already seen the impact on the children’s confidence back at school and we will definitely be returning again next year.”
