Our holiday hell at ‘abysmal’ resort
ADAD has branded Southport Pontins “abysmal” and called for action after footage from his family’s four-night stay showed filthy conditions at the resort.
Peter McKenna’s family stayed at the holiday park earlier this week, but were left appalled by the conditions throughout the site.
Video captured by Peter’s wife highlights the games room as being one of the worst areas when it comes to cleanliness.
Her footage shows a heavily stained pool table, dirty game machines and a dusty floor.
Peter said: “It has never been the best but it has never been this bad.
“It is absolutely abysmal now.
“The whole games room was built up with months and months of dirt so the kids couldn’t go into it, my son only went swimming once and said there was excrement in the pool so didn’t go back.
“The kids’ merry-go-round was really grimy and minging.
“As for the kids’ toys, I wouldn’t be comfortable with a grown adult touching them, never mind kids – they were that bad.
“You can see from the video, there is thick dirt and dust over everything – even the slot machines were filthy.”
Peter added that the family had visited Pontins several times before, but would not be returning – and he felt it was time that a health inspection w was carried out.
He added: “You do not expect to go on a family holiday somewhere and it to be this minging.
“My partner even went out and bought antiseptic hand gels, that’s how bad it was.
“It’s not exactly a cheap holiday either, you’re talking around £200 per chalet.”
This is not the first time Pontins has received such complaints.
Last month Gaynor King- ston, one of several holidaymakers who say they have encountered problems, described the Southport site as being like “something out of Shameless” after her five-night stay.
Britannia Hotels, which owns Pontins, did not respond to a request to comment.
