HOMES PLAN CONCERNS

SWANS FEEL THE CHILL

WELL the winter chill has certainly hit us early this year. Maybe we have to “pay back” for the brilliant heatwave we had earlier this year!?

Unfortunately it hasn’t only surprised us but our swans on the Marine Lake have been caught out too!

Lots of young goslings down there with the adult swans are desperately hungry, therefore we are looking for locals to help feed them. Please help if you can.

After meeting and chatting with a lady from the local rescue I am advised that ideally the food you buy at our local pet shop is by far the best for them as bread attracts the algae that is in our lake which in turn goes into the swans’ digestive systems and can make them ill.

If you cannot get this food then please don’t give up… crushed Cornflakes/ Weetabix are almost as good. I have no doubt that the locals will respond to this plea as our Marine lake without wildlife is unthinkable.

Thank you in anticipation.

I READ recently of a planned 300 homes development in South Formby.

People of Formby are not being “nimbys”, their and concerns are very real.

There are two developments north and south of Formby with applications before the council with approximately 600 houses.

Possibly the top two concerns are flooding and traffic within Formby and the ingress and egress from Formby, especially at commuter times.
