Stars will kick off for char­ity

SOUTH­PORT radio star Claire Simmo will be pre­sent­ing a char­ity foot­ball match for the James Bul­ger Me­mo­rial Trust this Sun­day.

Claire, who presents the break­fast show on Radio City 2, is an am­bas­sador for the char­ity and will be one of many fa­mous faces on show at Pren­ton Park, home of Tran­mere Rovers.

The game kicks off at 3pm, with pro­ceeds go­ing to­wards the up­keep of the car­a­van hol­i­day home James Bul­ger House in Ribby Hall Vil­liage near Black­pool, which is used for bul­lied chil­dren and young crime vic­tims.

Fa­mous faces in­volved on the pitch will in­clude TV hard man Danny Dyer and former Liver­pool FC star Jer­maine Pen­nant.

A state­ment from Tran­mere Rovers said: “Danny Dyer, most fa­mous for his role in BBC soap opera EastEn­ders, will cap­tain the side who will be man­aged by former Tran­mere Rovers player and man­ager John Aldridge.

“The 41-year-old Lon­doner joins a host of names from the re­al­ity TV and soap opera world, in­clud­ing James Ar­gent, Frankie Foster plus EastEn­ders duo Dean Gaffney and Jake Wood.

“Aldridge will be joined in the dugout by former Liver­pool boss Roy Evans, as the Wir­ral com­mu­nity comes to­gether for two bril­liant causes.

“Former Liver­pool and Stoke City mid­fielder Pen­nant will also lace up his boots at the home of Tran­mere Rovers.

“The 35-year-old has played for 15 dif­fer­ent clubs dur­ing his pro­longed ca­reer, and racked up 231 Pre­mier League ap­pear­ances.

“Tick­ets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for chil­dren, with all seat­ing based in the Main Stand. Once the Main Stand has sold out, tick­ets will be avail­able to pur­chase in the Es­sar Kop for all spec­ta­tors.”
