THE Master Barber’s Shop on Lord Street has been named the best in the UK for the second year in a row by the National Hairdressers Federation.

The shop, at the entrance to the Wayfareres Arcade, won the Best Barbering Business at the NHF’s Business Awards on Sunday, November 4, at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.

The Southport barber shop fought off finalists from all over the country to win the national title.

Co-owner Dan Rix said: “This year’s task of entering proved particularly daunting as The Master Barber’s Shop was in direct competition with national franchise and multi-salon operations throughout the UK.

“To have achieved this award in such a difficult arena is testament to our staff’s efforts in all they do and where we stand in the industry.”

As part of the qualifying criteria a mystery shopper was sent to The Master Barber’s Shop, which scored highly in all areas.

One particular point was the effort that goes into window dressing and helping to lift the image of Lord Street.

The NHF’s Business Awards ceremony takes place every year to celebrate the success of outstanding professionals in the hairdressing industry.

NHF president Agnes Leonard said: “Our winners have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today, so we wanted to use the Business Awards as an opportunity to recognise their achievements.

“Receiving this NHF Business Award for the second year running is a huge accomplishment for The Master Barber’s Shop, so they should be thrilled with what they have achieved.”
