Donations mark centenary
FOLLOWING a year of fundraising activity, Council 146 of The Knights of St Columba held their annual presentation evening at St John Stones Parish Centre in Ainsdale at the start of their centenary year.
The Knights where able to make donations to eight different local charities to help them continue their activities.
The local charities which benefited this yearwere;
The Northern Foundation.
Southport Street Pastors.
Ainsdale
Centre.
Southport
Newspaper.
Sefton’s Women & Children’s Aid (SWACA).
Elim Refugee Support. The St Vincent De Paul Society (SVP) . Cleft Community Talking

Kitchen.
The Grand Knight, John McCarthy, gave £500 to each of the charities and thanked everyone who had helped the Knights raise money this year for their invaluable support.
The Knights have raised funds by holding a sponsored walk, several family bingo evenings, a sponsored bike ride (Liverpool to Chester and back), a Soup tombola stall at The Ainsdale Show and carol singing on Lord Street.
The presentation evening has been held at St John Stones Parish Centre for the last few years and over 120 invited guests enjoyed entertainment from Charlie Newport.
There was also a buffet by Gaynor as well as the presentations of the cheques and a grand raffle.
