Mum knows best

since being appointed.

“The development the club is going through at the moment, the development of the kids and the work they do with young players is something I’ve always been interested in.

“In terms of developing young people coming through the system, especially with the way the professional game is going, 18 and 19-year-old’s, they need a bit of a kick-start into non-league football, so it suited me perfectly.

“I was talking to the people at the club, the directors and chairman, and they’ve got a nice little vision for the club. It’s always been a place when you go to it’s nice and friendly.”

Green also revealed his intentions to add to the squad at Victoria Park and laid out his intentions for the season ahead.

On his first tasks at the club after being appointed, the new boss added: “I think immediately it’s a get-to-know basis”.

CROSBY A (61pts) returned to the top of the First Division after a maximum win over their out of luck C team.

Without Jack Dempsey again, Cherith Graham joined forces with her mum Sylvia and along with Gemma Grant the A team once more looked a formidable force.

Mind you, the C team were a little unlucky not to register, as Rashad Al Dahiri and Max Davies came mighty close to taking points off the leaders.

Crosby B (53pts) remain in second place with a match in hand, after scraping past third placed Argyle A (51pts) 6-4.

Southport A (44pts) continued to impress after an 2-8 win at Princes St C, whilst Princes St A still without number one Matty Wilson, had too much for a resurgent Argyle B, where both Micheal Stewart and Darren Taylor were the difference in a 7-3 victory.

Finally, Princes St B moved off the bottom with a welcome 4-6 win at an understrength Holy Trinity B.

At the top of the Second Division, Argyle D (58pts) increased their lead after a very good 2-8 win at Waterloo A, with the usual suspects, Nick Miller and Les Dodd inflicting most of the damage.

Second placed Argyle C (47pts) lost a little ground after a home draw versus Waterloo B.

Princes St E (42pts) remain in third place, even though they suffered a 7-3 loss at Southport B who moved up to fourth on 40pts.

Holy Trinity B returned to winning ways with an 8-2 home success over Argyle E.

Crosby High School was the venue for not one feature match but two, an all Crosby clash from the Second Division between their F and E teams, and Crosby H versus Princes St F from the third tier.

With both Nick and Chris Moustaka, both missing from the E team’s line-up, Salim Ladha and Crosby’s latest prospect young Charlie Williams, stepped up a division. A tactical move from E team captain Elliot Cooper decided to introduce both players quickly, as first Salim paired with his captain got the E team off to a flying start with a three straight success over Ciaran Lynch and F team captain John Aitchison.

Ted Sloan then made it 0-2, overcoming Selwyn Goldthorpe in an exciting win, which could have gone further than the three games it did.

Continuing with the plan, Charlie was then partnered with Ted, to take on Selwyn and Sunil Sapre, and the youngster did not let his captain down as they made it 0-3 after another three straight win.

Ciaran then reduced the arrears with a notable win over Elliot, before Charlie impressed again, overcoming John in four games, which made the score 1-4 Crosby E.
