LIAM Watson believes his vision is starting to take shape at

Southport after they recorded their fourth consecutive win in all competitions at Hereford on Tuesday evening. Goals from Dion Charles, Dean Winnard and league debutant Jordan Archer handed the Sandgrounders all three points and lifted them just three points from safety in the Conference North. When asked about the recent upturn in form, the manager replied: “It’s now starting to become my team, isn’t it?

“An awful lot of people have moved on. If you turn around and look at the team that started the season to the team that started Saturday, how many players are in it?

“None of the back four, neither of the midfield two, none of the three in behind Jack Sampson - so from the start of the season there’s only three who started the first day who started on Saturday.

“I go on all the time about work-rate. A lot of the time, if you work harder than the opposition and you’ve got good players, you tend to win.

“We’ve had a little bit of an element of we had good players who didn’t work hard enough and then we did have some who worked hard but they weren’t good players so it’s trying to get that balance.”

Southport overcome Conference National side Boreham Wood 2-0 at Haig Avenue last weekend to reach the FA Cup second round.

Watson’s men will now face the winners of either Oxford City or Tranmere Rovers.
