ACAFE specialising in legal cannabis products will hold a grand opening in Southport this weekend.

GoodLives CBD Cafe is opening in Eastbank Street with managing director Pete Armstrong boasting of selling the best quality cannabidiol (CBD) products in the country.

The trained chef hopes that, by opening the cafe, he can help share the health benefits of using CBD, which is extracted from the leaves and flowers of a strain of the cannabis plant, but does not contain the chemical THC that gets users high.

Although he is an ardent believer in the health benefits of using CBD, Pete says he will not give any medical advice to customers but will instead refer them to official reports and government advice.

The drinks on offer will be sourced from Crosby Coffee and Pete hopes to create a new blend which will include CBD oil, rather than having to add the oil at the end of the process.

He said: “I wanted to do everything local. I’m all about the community.

“This isn’t about the money, it’s about making a difference to people.

“We have so many problems with people being addicted to pharmaceuticals and there’s such a stigma about cannabis and has been for so long, but it’s not warranted.”

The cafe sells a variety of coffees with or without CBD and also offers products from Good Lives Guru, Pete’s CBD wholsale business.

Among the drinks on offer are varieties of hemp teas, while the CBD products include oil drops, skin balms and massage oils.

Pete, 37, was raised in Southport and spent several years abroad in countries including France, Greece, Andorra and Italy.

He worked as a chef in Rotterdam for five years and ran his own shop where he learned about the benefits of using CBD.

The former Kingswood pupil returned to England after breaking his spine and fracturing 14 ribs when he fell through a first-floor skylight.

He now feels the time is right to open the cafe and showcase what he believes are the benefits of CBD.

“It’s really exciting (to be opening the cafe) and I can’t wait to show it to everyone and show everyone the health benefits.”
