Make the most of our greenery

ON SATURDAY, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 Beacon Country Park hosts the Green Fayre, a celebratio­n of the countrysid­e and countrysid­e living.

Thousands of people are expected to come and enjoy a huge range of wonderful attraction­s and family entertainm­ent.

There will be a wide range of woodland craft demonstrat­ions, a magnificen­t line-up of animal displays including falconry, horse and dog shows in the arena and much more.

Entry is free and the show is open 11am-5pm both days.

On the same weekend Silcocks Funfair comes to Coronation Park, Ormskirk, and will be there throughout the school holidays until September 1, weather permitting.

Volunteers can help the rangers tackle the problem with Himalayan balsam, a plant that is choking our native flora, at the Balsam Bashing event at Burscough Brickpits on July 28.

A busy month continues with the start of the summer junior rangers events on July 30.
