Pupils take the reins at school!
CHURCHTOWN Primary School students recently finished a seven week horse riding club at Becconsall Equestrian Centre – and what an amazing time they had.
Sixteen children from the school in Southport went to the stables on a weekly basis to take part in horse riding lessons and stable management sessions ran by the amazing instructor at Becconsall Equestrian Centre in Mere Brow.
Some of them had never been around horses before so it was a first time and extremely special experience for many.
All of the children have come so far in their confidence, skills and knowledge; some enjoyed the sessions so much that they have decided to continue with regular riding lessons at the centre.
The final week ended with an outstanding
show where the children demonstrated their riding abilities to their friends and family; the atmosphere and smiles on faces was so lovely to see.
The children chose some moves that they had learnt to show the spectators including walk, trot, 20m circles, three loop serpentines and changing the rein.
They then answered some questions related to all of the stable management sessions that they had.
Finally, they showed their ability to control a horse through leading it around the yard. All of the children were amazing and they each earnt a well-deserved certificate and rosette.
The club was a great success and Churchtown Primary School plans to continue with the running of this club in the new academic year.
