POLICE want to find the owner of a killer dog which savaged a family pet and injured her owner.

Lulu, a King Charles cavalier spaniel, was viciously attacked by the dog as children watched on and later died as a result of her injuries.

Lulu’s family had been

walking her near the entrance to Ainsdale Recreation Ground at about 8.30pm on Tuesday last week when they were attacked by the offending dog.

Described as a largesize tan-coloured cross bread, the dog was not on a lead and was unsupervised when it launched the vicious attack, which left Lulu with fatal injuries and also hurt her owner.

Shortly after the incident, an unknown man, described as white, aged between 18-24, about 5ft 8in with ginger hair and wearing a blue tracksuit, attended the location and claimed the dog was his and left the scene with the dog.

Police now want to find the owner of the dog.

PC Kurt Timpson said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which was witnessed by many people including the young owner of the dog and other children nearby.

“It is vital that we trace the owner of the offending dog to carry out due process and to ensure that the dog is not a future danger to the public.

“This incident happened at a busy location, alongside a main road so I am confident that people will know the dog or its owner and I appeal to anyone with any information do the right thing and speak to us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside police via social media, or by calling 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.
