Barton’s back with a BANG
SOUTHPORT’S only active Professional Boxer Jake Barton is preparing for his third professional bout on Saturday, October 19 at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.
Currently 2-0 and campaigning in the Light Heavyweight Division, Barton is coming off a lengthy lay off due to injury.
The 25 year old cruised to a debut win in March 2018 over Curtis Gargano and saw off Callum Ide a few months later, winning all of the rounds in both contests in what is a very promising start to his professional boxing career.
Now 100% recovered ‘The Spartan’ as he’s known in the ring is training hard under the tutelage of coach Robbie Butler at the Rydal Gym in Liverpool and is excited to unveil what he’s been working hard on behind closed doors.
Jake said: “This is going to be my first fight as a professional boxer where I will be 100%, with two fully working arms”, he joked.
“My debut was mental with my shoulder dislocating in the opening 15 seconds but I still managed to get the job done.
“The surgery has now fixed the problem and I’ve recovered well. I’m sparring
great again now, working well with Rob on the pads in the gym and setting PB’s with my power lifting.
“Im coming back better than ever and can’t wait to put on a show”.
Jake’s trainer Rob, owner of the Kirkdale based Rydal Gym which is buzzing with a talented line up of upcoming professional talent, added: “Jake is a dedicated and professional sportsman.
“His approach to time out because of injury were used wisely to improve all of the other areas of his boxing game.
“He is always looking to improve and master the fundamentals - footwork, defence, ring domination and power lifting.
“We have now put the machine back together and it looks better than ever.
“Stronger, more powerful, better educated and more importantly he looks ready to make an assault on the Light Heavyweight Division. I am a proud coach”.
The former WBC Muay Thai Champion has always had great support from his days fighting Muay Thai and Kickboxing and carried this over in abundance when he switched to professional boxing, taking more than 100 fans to the M&S Bank Arena and DW Stadium for his first two bouts last year and will be counting on this support again.
Tickets are now available for the fight priced at £40 standard and £70 Rringside along with a coach leaving from the Firepit Sports Bar for £10 return.
The Firepit, who are one of Barton’s sponsors, will be hosting both a pre fight warm up with food and drink offers for those coming to support Jake and a post fight after party.
Tickets for the fight are available from Jake directly or from behind the bar at the Firepit.
