Will power takes firm to charity top spot

-

ASOUTHPORT law firm has been named as one of the top fundraisers in the UK after taking part in a charity will-writing campaign.

McClure Solicitors raised £26,284 – the most ever raised in one campaign – for the Will Aid scheme in its 30th year after writing more than 300 wills in exchange for a voluntary donation.

This was the 14th year the firm has taken part in the month-long fundraiser and they were the highest fundraising firm for 2018.

Andrew Robertson from the firm said he was thrilled their efforts in 2018 had made the firm one of the top fundraisers taking part.

He said: “McClure Solicitors is extremely proud to support the work of Will Aid.

“It gives us the opporunity to encourage people in local communities to get their will written – the majority of adults do not have a will.

“As this is a time-limited

campaign it gives interested parties a sense of urgency to get their will instructed before the campaign is over.

“In addition to peace of mind that they are getting their affairs in order, clients also have the bonus of knowing that charities are benefiting.”

Joanne Dallas, of Christian Aid, paid the firm a visit to present them with a certificate to thank them for their achievement.

She said: “The team at McClure Solicitors have really embraced the Will Aid scheme and all their make a real difference. time and hard work will “Just £150 could pay for translate into transformed a mobile health clinic in lives for those living in Kenya where mothers can poverty across the world. get ante-natal check-ups

Peter de Vena Franks, the charity’s campaign director, said: “Will Aid has made an amazing contribution to the work of these nine participating charities in the last 30 years.

“Thanks to the commitment of local solicitors that took part in this year’s Will Aid, many people both in the UK and abroad will receive life-changing support and local people who used the scheme have the peace of mind that having a professionally drawn up will brings.

“I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to McClure Solicitors for their incredible efforts this year.”
