MP not alone in rail fight

-

IN SEFTON Council’s Local Plan they intend to build more than 1000 new dwellings in Churchtown and Crossens.

The old Victorian combined sewer network floods every time there are long and heavy periods of rainfall, which results in excrement being left on pavements and roadways.

Many properties have been flooded in this neighbourhood,

United Utilities do a quick fix when residents complain. An investment programme is required to replace the old Victorian combined sewers.

Mr Dimba and Mr Wise at Sefton Council (LLFA) have promised residents in Churchtown and Crossens that they intend to resolve these flooding issues and are looking at various projects, but nothing happens.

Wainhomes intends to pump the foul sewage from the development site into The Crescent in Crossens at manhole 4411.

Residents have told United Utilities and Sefton Council that sewer flooding is ongoing in The Crescent.

United Utilities have informed Sefton Council that no surface water can be discharged from the development site into the combined sewer system.

The surface water strategy that Sefton Council/Wainhomes have looked at will put the development site at risk of flooding and will not comply to their own EQ8 policy.

Sefton Council’s planning committee just keep on approving planning applications.

The majority of councillors are Labour on the planning committee, so they have a licence to do what they want, as we know the chairman had the final vote to approve the development site off Bankfield Lane, after a split decision.

Sefton Council have pushed this planning application through.

They don’t care what happens after these new dwellings are built.

Japanese knotweed has been identified on the development site in two areas.

Residents in The Grange have got problems with Japanese knotweed in their gardens, Wainhomes built these properties in 1997.

I hope new house buyers who purchase a property on this development site will be able to get home insurance as this land is on a flood plain and surrounded by two main rivers: the Three Pools to the north and Captains Waterway on the eastern side of this development site.

As a further point, I’m not sure if there will be any availability in any of the local schools, doctors or dentists. David Harris Via email
