Celebrate Britain’s national drink in style at St George’s Hall beer fest

-

CASK Ale Week is an annual event and this year it runs from September 19 to 29 writes Neville Grundy.

This is an opportunity for pubs, brewers, Camra branches and – most importantly – beer drinkers to celebrate our national drink.

Britain has one of the widest range of beer styles in the world, and in these difficult times, it’s good to have something we can be proud of.

For pubs and breweries, Cask Ale Week provides a fine opportunity to promote your business, and for drinkers simply to have some fun.

To find out what’s going on, or to register any events you may be organising, go to the website: caskaleweek.co.uk.

You’ll find there a list of participating pubs so that drinkers will be able to see what’s going on, and a range of ideas for any businesses that wish to join in.

St George’s Hall in Liverpool is one of the finest buildings in the

UK, and you can admire it while enjoying some high quality drinks during Cask Ale Week.

The St George’s Hall Beer Festival is returning, running from Thursday, September 26 to Saturday, September 28.

You can expect up to 200 different real ales and ciders alongside a gin garden with a selection of boutique gins, spirits, wine and prosecco.

Whatever your preferred tipple, they’ll have it for you.

What better place to celebrate our national drink?

There will also be entertainment at every session except on Friday afternoon, which is music-free.

Hot and cold food will be available for when you get peckish, provided by Peninsula Pies, Crackpot Catering and Liverpool Cheese Company.

There is a discount for all Camra members with a valid membership card at the Thursday evening and Friday daytime sessions.

A full card of tokens is £15 with Camra members receiving a £2 reduction.

Drinks start at £1.50 per half. There will also be a Beer of the Festival award, voted for by all attendees.

St George’s Hall is conveniently situated about seven minutes’ walk from Central Station and about four minutes from Queen Square bus station.

I might see you there if you’re going on Friday afternoon!
