Suspended term for abuse images OAP
AMAN was discovered with a total of nearly 800 vile images of child sex abuse on his computer.
Graham Loines, 65, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court to be sentenced, after he pleaded guilty to four charges of making and possessing indecent images of children.
Chris Hopkins, prosecuting, said the material was discovered after police executed a warrant at Loines’ Southport home in September last year.
They seized a number of items of computer equipment from the property in Viceroy Court, Lord Street.
On examination, officers found a total of 793 indecent images on the computer - 153 of which were in the most serious Category A, with another 205 in Category B, and 435 in Category C.
Mr Hopkins said the images, which mainly consisted of video material, had been stored over a number of years, going back as far as 2010.
He said that, although Loines had actively sought out the material, he had not distributed it to others.
The court heard that Loines had a long-standing sexual interest in this type of material, but that he now said it had stopped.
Loines, who used a motorised disabled buggy, was said to show “little empathy”.
He was described in court as a vulnerable person with autism spectrum disorder.
Judge Anil Murray sentenced Loines to eight months’ imprisonment for the offences, suspended for two years.
He was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register, both for a period of 10 years.
