Ten years of Chippy Teas at the Fylde

-

THE Lancashire Hotpots are inviting people to join them for a “chippy tea” as a Southport chip shop celebrates its 10th birthday this weekend.

The band, famous for songs including their 2009 hit Chippy Tea, which has been viewed more than a quarter of a million times on YouTube, will be at the Fylde Fish Bar in Marshside this Friday (October 18).

Owners Banico and Jodie Zeniou said: “When we first opened our doors in October 2009, we asked The Lancashire Hotpots if they would come in to launch our new takeaway and restaurant in Marshside and to our surprise they said yes.

“It was an amazing start to our launch as The Lancashire Hotpots’ fans came from miles and miles to watch them and really put us on the map especially playing their Chippy Tea song.

“We have now been given a great opportunity to relive the moment and say thank you for all the support to all our customers and have a great night celebrating our 10th birthday.”

The independent family-run fish and chip takeaway and restaurant was opened by Banico, a third generation fish fryer, and Jodie.

Together they started a brand which has proved popular over the years.

Wanting to spread the brand while keeping it local, in 2015 Banico opened a takeaway in Birkdale Village and then in July 2018 opened another restaurant and takeaway in Burscough on the retail park.

“But the icing on the cake is the return of the Lancashire Hotpots this Friday, to perform for us once again 10 years later.

“Even more so as they are in the middle of their UK tour and have been forthcoming in taking the day out to perform their Chippy Tea song among other well known favourites and to support such a great British tradition.”
